What is the actual speed of my "PR" rated processor?

(back to Frequently Asked Questions)  (back to Cyrix/IBM 6x86 FAQs What is the actual speed of my "PR" rated processor?

This is a very common questions, and can be difficult to answer.   The best way to tell the true speed of your 6x86 chip is to pull of the heatsink/fan and take a look at it.  The MHz rating is printed clearly on all 6x86 chips.

If you don't want to do that, you can reference the chart below.   To know the exact speed of the chip, you will need to know the bus speed you are using.  You can always take the bus speed and multiply it by the clock multiplier to find out the final frequency of any chip (for example, 75 MHz bus with a 2x clock multiplier would be 75x2, so it would equal 150 MHz).

PRating: Bus/Clock: Speed:
PR120 50/2 100 MHz
PR133 55/2 110 MHz
PR150 60/2 120 MHz
PR166 66/2 133 MHz
PR200 75/2 150 MHz

Note that the ratings in this table are only for actual chips made.  Other bus/clock combinations can be done to theoretically make the same speed and performance.
